Riverland has been producing canola oil and meal in Australia for over 15 years and is one of the two major producers of oilseed products in Australia.

While our contribution and commitment to the canola industry is expanding, our future growth lies in alternate seeds such as monola and linola, as well as producing specific value add feed meal products for the dairy, poultry and pig sectors.  These differentiated products give Riverland a competitive advantage as they represent a move away from traditional commodities.

In addition to our crushing operations, we have recently expanded our Numurkah plant to include oil refining and bleaching capabilities.

We offer specific meal types - solvent extracted canola meal, expeller canola meal and linola meal; each type providing particular benefits to each livestock type. Through our research and development we are investigating the production of higher value meal for use in aquaculture and other areas of the Australian farming sector.

As consumers become more health conscious they are moving away from tallow (animal fats) and palm oils in cooking and meal additives.  Riverland is committed to looking for improved strains of oilseeds and the development of alternatives that offer improved health benefits to the consumer.  The CSIRO has awarded Riverland the exclusive rights to linola in the Australian marketplace and this oil may become an alternative to imported sunflower oil. 

In line with the continuing growth in the global demand for oilseed products and their applications, Riverland's exports to the food, industrial and energy sectors continue to grow.  Canola oil is a premium raw material for biodiesel production and Riverland is already a significant contributor to this growing market.
